Damian Wilson
Damian ha cantato fra il 1992 e il 2006 con svariate band: Landmarq, Threshold, Ayreon, After Forever, Star One, Rick Wakeman, Stream of Passion, ed è stato anche l’attore protagonista, impersonando Jean Valjan, nel musical Les Miserables andato in scena a Londra dal 1998 al 2000.
Dall’estate 2007 è ritornato a cantare con i Threshold, ricevendo anche un premio come miglior voce maschile.

Zachary Stevens
Zak ha fatto parte dei Savatage dal 1993 al 2000 pubblicando quattro album di grande successo mondiale. Nel 2001 ha formato i Circle II Circle coi quali ha appena finito di registrare il quarto album.

Ted Leonard
Ted è dal 1992 la voce degli Enchant. Con loro ha pubblicato sette album in studio e uno dal vivo. Sono ritenuti fra i migliori esponenti del progressive metal di classe sulla scia dei Rush. Di recente pubblicazione il suo CD solista "Way Home".

Gianluigi Girardi
Gianluigi ha una voce molto espressiva e appassionata. Ha cantato in numerose heavy metal band nell'underground milanese (soul takers, Winter Mist e Event Horizon) ma ora è pienamente coinvolto sia nel nuovo progetto 3 Dreams Never Dreamt che nella registrazione di vecchi brani dei Winter Mist.

Francesca "Elayne" Naccarelli
Elayne è l'attuale cantante della storica band romana di gothic-progressive Dunwich. Sul loro nuovo CD (il quarto) Heilagmanoth potete ammirare le sue doti.

Mario Moi
Cantante degli Ubi Maior dal 2002. Sull'album Nostos potete ascoltare il suo stile eclettico e sperimentale.

Cristina Gullo
Cristina è alla sua prima apparizione come cantante. Il suo timbro caldo e intenso l'aiuterà molto nel farsi strada.

History of Númenor

Many of you wrote me asking for the history of Númenor, write all the history is a hard job! So let me try with this summary.
Númenor is an island-kingdom found in the fictional writings of the late Prof. J.R.R. Tolkien.
It came into being at the beginning of the Second Age of Middle-earth as a reward given to the 3 Houses of Men who had fought against Melkor, the Dark Lord in the First Age.
The history of the First Age is the story of the long defeat of the Elves and the Men by Melkor and his armies. A defeat eventually reversed when Eärendil the Mariner (accompanied by his wife Elwing) won through to the Ancient West, to Valinor, to plead for assistance from the Valar (angelic entities). In the ensuing War of Wrath Melkor was defeated, captured, and cast from the world. However Sauron the Maia, Melkor’s chief lieutenant, avoided capture and remained active in Middle-earth.
As recompense for the aid given to the Elves the Valar raised the island of Númenor, half-way between Valinor and Middle-earth, and this should be a new home for Men.
To the Dúnedain, as the Númenóreans were called, the Valar granted a lifespan three times that of lesser men; but centuries later, and with the subtle treaties of Sauron, the kings of Númenor began to become afraid of death and long for immortality. The lies of Sauron led the great King of Númenor Ar-Pharazon to declare war to the Valar and fled to Valinor with a great army.

I lavori procedono, sono state registrate le chitarre per i 4 brani cantati da Damian Wilson.
Ho inciso le tracce di tastiera per altri 6 brani e su 3 di questi sono già all'opera chitarristi, batteristi e bassisti per completarli musicalmente.

"Akallabeth" è il titolo provvisorio per il mio album da solista in uscita si spera per la primavera del 2008.
Basato, e non ispirato, sul capitolo de Il Silmarillion dedicato all'ascesa e all caduta di Númenor, novella Atlantide nella cosmogonia Tolkieniana.
Il genere musicale? Un misto di progressive rock, hard rock, pomp rock, folk rock…
I brani saranno 12 e sono già tutti composti e registrati in versione demo.

Quattro brani sono già in avanzato stato di registrazione finale. Mancano le chitarre che inizieranno a essere registrate a novembre. Questi quattro brani vedono la presenza al microfono di un grandissimo cantante inglese: Damian Wilson!
Damian ha cantato fra il 1992 e il 2006 con svariate band: Landmarq, Threshold, Ayreon, After Crying, Star One, Rick Wakeman, Strema of Passion, ed è stato anche l’attore protagonista, impersonando Jean Valjan, nel musical Les Miserables andato in scena a Londra dal 1998 al 2000.
E' stato felicissimo di collaborare e si è dimostrata persona professionale e amichevole. A good yellow!
Altri ospiti? Beh… vari miei amici con cui ho collaborato in questi anni; tutti gli Ubi Maior saranno coinvolti, poi Ettore Salati dei The Watch presterà sicuramente la sua opera sulle 6 e 12 corde in qualche brano.

Nato a Milano all'inizio degli anni settanta Gabriele inizia a studiare pianoforte nel 1984 prendendo lezioni private.

Di pari passo con gli studi scientifici e letterari cresce il suo amore per la musica rock in generale e soprattutto per i gruppi storici degli anni settanta. Genesis, Pink floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas, Rush, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Yes, ELP, Jethro Tull, The Who, Uriah Heep contribuiscono a formare suo il gusto musciale e compositivo.

Nei primi anni dei novanta ha il suo primo contatto con Simone Rossetti.
Insieme tentato di mettere su una cover band di Marillion e Genesis ma dopo un buon numero di prove Gabriele abbandona la formazione (i due collaboreranno quasi dieci anni più tardi nei The Watch) e insieme al batterista Alessandro di Caprio entra a far parte di alcune band milanesi (Lighthouse Keepers, Ice Chain) eseguendo sia brani originali che cover di hard rock e progressive rock.

Nel 1996 l'esperienza nei Trois Fois Rien, una delle poche band milanesi a cantare in francese, gli insegna il gusto per l'arrangiamento di un semplice brano pop. L'amore però per il progressive spinge sia Gabriele che Alessandro trovare altri musicisti con cui condividere questa passione.
Nel 1998 si stringe il sodalizio con Stefano Mancarella, Lorenzo Marotta e Walter Gorreri e danno vita agli Ubi Maior.

Nel 2001 arriva la chiamata di Simone Rossetti per entrare a far parte dei Nightwatch, che da poco avevano cambiato il loro monicker in The Watch. Gabriele accetta con entusiasmo e dopo alcune date di prova in Francia e in Spagna incide coi The Watch l'album "Ghost". Il CD riceve recensioni entusiastiche, soprattutto per l'atmosfera decisamente genesisiana e gabrielliana che affiorano dalle tracce del disco. Il tour promozionale porta i The Watch a suonare in Italia, Belgio, Olanda, Francia, Messico e Germania. Nel 2004 però Gabriele decide di lasciare i The Watch per dedicarsi completamente agli Ubi Maior. Alla vigilia dell'uscita di "Vacuum", il nuovo lavoro dei The Watch, gli Ubi Maior sono già immersi nella composizione del loro album di debutto.
"Nostos" vede la luce nell'ottobre 2005.

Ottime recensioni e un buon numero di concerti in Italia portano gli Ubi Maior nel maggio del 2006 a suonare nuovamente in Belgio in compagnia dei Calliope e dei Consorzioacquapotabile (CAP).

Nell'estate del 2006 Gabriele inizia le registrazioni per quello che risulterà essere il suo album solista: un concept album basato sulla storia di "Numenor", un racconto estratto da Il Silmarillion, summa cosmologica del mondo di J.R.R. Tolkien. Nell'album Gabriele si avvale dell'aiuto di artisti e amici coi quali ha collaborato in questi anni, non ultimo il bravissimo cantante Damian Wilson che ha militato in diverse band come i Landmarq, i Threshold, Ayreon, Star One e Rick Wakeman.
